Legislative changes

The Weights and Measures Act 1987 has had 2 amendments via Regulatory Systems (Economic Development) Amendment Act 2025.

Trading Standards wish to advise that 2 amendments to the Weights and Measures Act 1987 have been enacted.

Section 15A(4)(c)

This change affects the owner of weighing or measuring equipment where the goods are weighed or measured in front of the customer and requires the operator of the equipment to see the weighing or measuring result / indication.

Note: The previous wording of this section only required the customer to see the indication.

Section 30C(5) and (6)

This change affects accredited persons who wish to renew their accreditation and introduces an advantage for applicants who submit a complete application no later than 3 months before the date of expiry. If evoked, the accreditation of an organisation, and its individual(s), continues until the application is processed by Trading Standards.
