TS–001 Records issued by accredited persons
This policy applies to any record issued by an accredited person in relation to any weight, measure, or weighing or measuring instrument that is either in use for trade or is not in use for trade.
- Weights and Measures Regulations 1999(external link)
- Regulation 22
- Schedule 5, Form 7 & 9
Any record issued by an Accredited Person (AP), which is outside the scope of the weights and measures legislation, in respect of any weight, measure, or weighing or measuring instrument, which is in use for trade or is not in use for trade, must not contain any reference to:
- The weights and measures legislation,
- The identifier of the accredited organisation, or
- The personal identifier of an accredited individual, or
- Trading Standards.
Furthermore, a record of this nature must not purport to be a Certificate of Accuracy (COA), nor be perceived as one.
If an Accredited Person uses the Trading Standards logo, they must comply with the requirements outlined on our website.
An Accredited Person who issues any record that conflicts with this policy may be in breach of their accreditation or the weights and measures legislation.
Any record that this policy covers would be issued outside the requirements of the accreditation scheme. However, we advise that the template for any record of this type be submitted to Trading Standards for review, prior to its use, in order to minimise the risk of conflicting with this policy.
