Policy
A secondary display is an additional display, which replicates the weight displayed on the approved indicator. This policy applies when a secondary display is not captured by a certificate of approval.
Trading Standards require the following conditions to be met when a secondary display is connected to an approved indicator:
- It is only used in addition to the approved indicator
- It must be in the same display configuration and replicate the weight displayed on the approved indicator
- It does not change the metrological characteristics of the weighing instrument
- It must be recorded on the test sheet that the secondary display is operating in accordance with this policy, and
- All segments/pixels in the display must be working to enable the weight indication to be clear.
NOTE
This policy is to be read in conjunction with any conditions specified in the certificate of approval for that instrument.
There is no obligation for a secondary display to replicate all the properties of the approved indicator for example, zero indication, in motion indication, net or gross indication.
However, if any of these properties are indicated on the secondary display, they must replicate the approved indicator, both function(s) and / or reading(s).
